France, 1871 (May 11) Le Harve to New York, folded letter franked with 1871, 20c blue on bluish + 1870, 30c brown on yellowish, four singles (45+46) tied by dotted lozenge handstamps with matching "Le Havre, Mai 11, 1871" origin cds, "N.Y. Steamship 10 May 24" entry cds; file fold affecting two stamps and one other with minor crease, otherwise Very Fine, a rare Bordeaux issue overseas usage intended for the British mails (70c rate) but sent by French packet, illustrated in The Chronicle (#246, page 283).
