1843 Whaling Letter to New Bedford, Mass., incoming folded letter from whaling ship captain Thomas Wall sailing around Cape Horn, sent to his pregnant wife in New Bedford, Mass., with "Stonington, Conn., Mar 15" cds and matching straight line "Ship" handstamp, manuscript "14½" rate for 12½¢ rate plus "2¢" ship fee for the ship captain of the Newark, with contents including…We are now fairly around that much dreaded Cape Horn - Longitude 80 degrees west, Latitude 54 degrees south, Very Fine and scarce.
