Hawaii - 1864-91 Bank Notes

Hawaii, 1883, Queen Emma, $1 rose red, 5 singles, each showing the different types of Opium Duty cancels; including small Maltese cross, large Maltese in purple not joined and joined, "A. S. Cleghorn" signature and "J.M.K." initials; some with usual minor soiling and one with small corner crease, a Very Fine and choice set, far better than normally encountered.

Cleghorn was the Postmaster General from May 1, 1887 to April 15, 1893 and was married to Princess Likelike. These stamps often show some staining caused by opium which leaked from the tin containers.
