Livingston Fargo & Co. was formed by the original founders of Wells, Fargo & Co. and American Express, this rare frank was used briefly in the mid to late 1850's on mail via the Eastern and Midwest routes, this letter probably originated west of Cincinnati and entered the regular mails there, the addressee was James Birdseye McPherson, who later became a Major General and died in 1864 during the Atlanta campaign.
