Providence, R.I., 1846, 5¢ gray black, four large and balanced margins, cancelled by usual manuscript check cancel on 1846 folded cover to New York, postmarked red "Providence, R.I., Nov. 16" c.d.s. and matching "Paid" straight line and large numeral "5" rate handstamp, light vertical file fold affects adhesive with tiny (barely perceptible) tear in bottom margin, Extremely Fine appearance, a lovely usage of this scarce Postmasters' Provisional; with 1999 P.F. certificate.
