California Penny Post Co., 1855-59, 7¢ black on buff, entire showing "Daguerreotpyes" spelling error in directive text, on fresh cover franked with ample to mostly large margin 1853, 3¢ dull red (11) tied by blue wide grid handstamp with matching "Marysville, Cal., May 6" cds; cover opening tear at top through top imprint and top left corner of local frank, otherwise Very Fine, ex-"Edwards" & Golden; with 2000 P.F. certificate. It is interesting to note that this envelope is slightly larger than other covers of the period. This was done to make it easier for the sender to place a letter and regular cover into this cover as the directive indicates.
