Stephens" departing September 21, 1857, partial San Francisco cds, lettersheet intact with interesting content including "We have nothing definite to communicate regarding the opening of the transit route, via Nicaragua, and can only state that preparations are in that stage of completeness that we almost deem it a certainty steamers will leave this destined for San Juan del Nord on the 5th…" and "The P.M.S.S.
