Jul 12, 1919" machine cancel on cover to London, England, London (1.7) arrival backstamp; small sealed edge tear at left, some light soiling and stamp with tiny stain, F.-V.F.; with 1968 R.P.S.L. certificate. The $1 stamps were also used on 25 pieces of supplementary mail postmarked July 12, 1919 for a second attempt of the Martinsyde. The plane wrecked on takeoff. Its pilot turned over the mail to London officials in January 1920. Covers are backstamped 7 JA 20. A.
