R.R., Westport., July 16, 1866, shield station postmark on yellow cover bearing 3¢ rose (65), s.e. at right, manuscript cancel to Marietta, Pa., original enclosure datelined "Westport, July 16/66", carried 275 miles to Philadelphia for Marietta, Very Fine and rare, Unrecorded by Towle.

(Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad) Baltimore Rail Road, Oct 10, blue cds ties 5¢ dark brown (1a), four ample to large margins with additional manuscript cancel, on blue 1849 folded letter from Baltimore Md. to Marlborough Md.; internal cover tear affecting address panel, otherwise Very Fine.

Although posted onto a mail car at Baltimore the letter must have been carried on Route 1902 Baltimore to Washington. Some Route Agents operated between Philadelphia and
Washington and in this instance he picked up the incorrect route agent marking instead of the "WASHINGTON RAIL ROAD" which should have been applied.

Put into Mahoningtown station and carried 2114 miles north to New Castle for transfer east to West Chester.

(Sunbury & Erie Railroad) S. & E. R.R. PA, NOV 10, perfect cds strike ties 3¢ rose (65), vibrant shade, on yellow cover to Macedonia, Ohio; reduced slightly at left.

Put onto either Route 2726 or 2773 between 1861 and 1868 to receive the Route Agent's date stamp. Probably routed west to Erie for Cleveland and then south to Macedonia.
