Hawaii, Kahului Railroad, 1894, 6¢ red, tied by the so called "H.I." overprint on piece, in combination with 1899, 1¢ dark green, horizontal pair tied by blue "Honouliuli, Oahu, Apr 9, 1900" cds's (255.01), purple "Wailuku, Maui, Apr 12, 1900" receiving cds at right, Very Fine, an interesting piece, offered here "as is". It is theorized that fewer than 100 of the 15¢ A.B.N.Co. Kahului Railroad issue have survived.

Lot 2207

Hawaii, 1883 Hawaiian Quarter Dollar Sash, red silk ribbon sash incorporating 32 linked quarter dollars on front (34x2½''), to be worn across the chest, these coins ceased to legal tender once Hawaii became a territory, and some that were not redeemed were made into jewelry and other sentimental items to preserve the memory of the monarchy; one link between coins separated, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.
