Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ light blue and 5¢ blue, De La Rue & Local printings, single of each, tied by blue "Columbia S.C., Oct 16" cds on cover to John L. Manning, Governor of South Carolina at Manchester S.C., turned inside use with Manchester ms. "Paid 10" rating to Ex. Gov. Manning at Columbia, ms. "Chg Box JLM" notation at top right; tiny edge tear, Very Fine and unusual turned combination use.

Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ blue, Archer & Daly printing, horizontal pair, full to large margins, tied by "Pocotalico S.C., 11 Feb" cds on wallpaper cover with dark red and blue pattern addressed to Hazelwood S.C.; pair with some gum toning; flap folded for display, F.-V.F. and pretty design.

Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ blue, Archer & Daly printing, horizontal pair, ample to large margins, manuscript canceled on 1863 cover with neat strike of "Va. C.R.R., Cobham, Jan 7" cds with military address to Lt. Col. A.L. Rives, Engineer Bureau, War Department in Richmond, Va., Very Fine.

Alfred L. Rives, came from a distinguished Virginia family and went on to be a prominent engineer prior to, during and after the War.
