(Placer) Emigrant Gap, Cal., Jan 24, 1870, bluish green cds (Williams unlisted) on 3¢ green entire to New York, canceled by matching cork, with manuscript obliterated Wells, Fargo & Co. frank, Very Fine, the earliest and only recorded Emigrant Gap townmark.

(Placer) Illinoistown Cal, July 30, manuscript postmark (PLA-2010, R5) and "Paid 3" rate on Masonic Lodge correspondence cover to Yuba City, with original 1855 partly printed enclosure, docket above the address, Very Fine, extremely rare, with only one other 1850's manuscript postmark recorded, ex-Myerson.

(Placer) McKinney', Lake Tahoe, Cal., Jun 15, 1887, purple serrated cds (PLA-2410) with truncated name (believed to have read "McKinney's Resort"), on manuscript canceled 1884, 2¢ brown entire to West Oakland, Truckee transit and receiving backstamps; bit reduced at left, Very Fine, a scarce short-lived postmark with unusual "Lake Tahoe" designation.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

McKinney was located eight miles south of Tahoe.

(Placer) Shady Run, Cal., Nov 20, 1903, superb strike of Doane type 2 postmark (PLA-3310) tying 1902, 2¢ carmine on Southern Pacific Co. corner card cover to Preston, receiving backstamp, with original letterhead enclosure, Extremely Fine and choice, the only recorded postmark from Shady Run (photo on web site).
