Ecuador, 1865, 1r Green, Vertical Strip of Eight, positions 33//66, mostly large margins to just touching, bright vibrant color, in combination with 1865, ½r blue on Judicial front to Riobamba, all tied by manuscript "Alausi" and dotted lozenge cancels, with clear matching "Alausi, 20 Oct, 65" cds and "16½oz" weight endorsement, Very Fine, with fewer than five usages known bearing the manuscript Alausi cancel, this likely unique in combination with the handstamp postmarks, ex-Bustamante; with 2011 Moorhouse certificate.Scott No. 5+2 Estimate $1,500 - 2,000.
It is believed that in late summer official 1865, new handstamps including the circle date stamp and dotted lozenge arrived at Alausi of Chimborazo Province. In spite of this fact, manuscript cancellations during a short period were used in combination with the recently introduced postmarks.
