Macuitire, Commanding Royal Artillery in Bangalore, India, franked with India 1866, 4a green (Scott 26B) tied by "F.F." field force diamond grid handstamp, with Capt Elliot endorsement at lower left and via Bombay routing endorsement at top, reverse with Bombay (6.17) transit and red Bangalore (6.21) receiving postmarks, Very Fine.

Ethiopia, 1895, 2g Dark Brown, tied by "Harar" Ahmeric cds on preprinted address cover to Cairo, Egypt, in combination with Djibouti 1894, 25c rose & blue (Scott 13) tied by blue "Djibouti, Postes, 5 Avril, 96" date stamp, reverse with French packet cds (4.5), Suez (4.10) transit and Caire (4.10) receiving backstamps; cover opening nicks and tears at top, F.-V.F. appearance, only a few covers from Harar with the Amharic canceller are known; with 1999 Holcombe certificate. A VERY RARE NEVER HINGED SET OF THE 1943 OBELISK ISSUE WITH HANDSTAMPED SURCHARGES.

These sets where intended for distribution to V.I.P. guests by Emperor Selassie during the inauguration ceremony of a new monument honoring the fallen during the Italian Occupation. Of these 40 sets, ten were set aside for inclusion in souvenir folders, favor cancels, etc., leaving only 30 mint sets available.

A RARE GUADELOUPE USE PREPAID THROUGH THE BRITISH AGENCY TO NEW YORK.

The black "Paid at Guadeloupe" crowned circle handstamp is far scarcer than examples struck in red.
