Leaf, fine strike cancels 6¢ vermilion (U86) entire with Wells Fargo paid frank and bearing Canada 6¢ brown (39) tied by blue "For Great Britain / and Ireland" handstamp from Victoria, British Columbia to London, England, matching blue "Wells, Fargo & Co., Victoria." oval handstamp, endorsed "Via Puget Sound", red "New York May 23" exchange datestamp and red London (6.4) entry c.d.s., manuscript "recd 5/6/72" receipt docketing; no flap and minor edge strengthening, address crossed out, Very Fine appearance.
Weiss No. RE-LF1    Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.

ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED RE-LF1 COVERS, THIS BEING THE ONLY ONE ORIGINATING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA.

The combination franking was required for express mail originating in Canada via the United States postal system, the Canadian 6¢ postage prepaid the cross-border rate plus the United States 6¢ postage as payment of the treaty rate to Great Britain. Cover was carried on the Hapag Line "Cambria" that arrived in Portsmouth on June 2.

Leaf, fine strike ties 6¢ carmine (148), tall margins, on orange buff cover to Germany, red "New York Paid All Direct Jun 8" exchange cds, carried as endorsed by NGL Hermann from New York Jun. 8th to Southampton arriving Jun. 19th, red Bremen (6.21.72) framed transit and Frankfurt (6.22) arrival backstamp, Very Fine and scarce cancel.

Leaf, bold strike ties 10¢ brown (150), exceedingly well centered and rich color, sharp red "New York Jun 15" exchange cds and French Packet "Paq. Fr. H. No. 3, 15 Juin 72" datestamp, carried as endorsed by French Line St. Laurent that arrived at Brest on Jun. 26th 1872, black "10" decimes due handstamp for double-weight inland charge, Havre (6.28) arrival backstamp; some docketing and top edge stain, Very Fine and scarce.

Stemmed Leaf, clear strike ties 1869 6¢ ultramarine (115) on buff cover to London, England, red "New York Apr 23" exchange cds, carried as endorsed by the NGL Line Union that departed New York on Apr. 23rd and arrived at Southampton May 4th 1870, red London (5.4) arrival cds; no flap and couple tiny edge tears at top, still Very Fine.
