1844 (Sep. 13) Philadelphia Pa. to Jura, Switzerland, folded letter with red "Philadelphia Pa. Sep 13" cds and matching "Paid" framed handstamp with "37½" rating for 12½¢ inland postage plus 25¢ freight money steamship fee, carried by Great Western from New York Sep 14th to Liverpool arriving Sep. 29th, framed "Liverpool Ship, 30 SP 44" backstamp, red London (10.1) backstamp and matching "Colonies, &c. Art 12." framed accountancy handstamp, Boulange (10.3) entry cds, to Salins and readdressed Jura, France, various ratings and backstamps including "Route de Geneve, 7 Oct", Very Fine and unusual freight money letter to France.

1846 (Mar. 6) Charleston, S.C. to London, England, folded letter with red "Herckenrath Lowndes & Co." oval handstamp (Charleston forwarder) used as corner card, red "Charleston S.C. Mar 6" cds and matching "Paid" "10" handstamps, red manuscript "12½" prepaid rating for sailing ship freight money fee, carried by Kermit Line Waterloo from New York Mar. 14 to Liverpool arriving Apr. 16, Liverpool Ship (4.16) and London (4.17) backstamps, manuscript "8" pence due rating for uniform ship fee, Very Fine and attractive, Charleston freight money covers are uncommon and those by sailing ship are scarce, ex-Winter.

Jan 14" cds with matching "Paid" and "10" rating handstamps, blue manuscript "12½" rating for freight money fee by sailing ship, carried by Dramatic Line Sheridan from New York about Jan. 25 to Liverpool arriving Feb. 16, "Liverpool Ship/16 FE 1847" and London (2.17) backstamps, Very Fine, a late use of a freight money fee, ex-Winter.

1839-46, Transatlantic Freight Money Letters, group of 5 covers comprising 1839 Philadelphia to London, 1839 Baltimore to London by Royal William, 1842 Baltimore to London via sailing packet, 1842 Baltimore to Liverpool by Great Western, and 1846 New York to London by Great Western with pencil "25" freight money notation and indistinct red "New-York '2cts' 6 Oct" drop letter cds, the latter faulty but extremely rare N.Y.C. use with freight money notation and drop letter rate, F.-V.F.
