Australia, 1849 Seymour, N.S.W. to Melbourne, Victoria, folded letter to the curator of interstate estates with brown "Free Seymour" boxed handstamp crossed out with "8" rate applied, reverse with "Seymour, Port Phillip, Au 12" transit and Melbourne arrival oval date stamps, Very Fine, an interesting unaccepted free mail usage, it was shortly after this letter was mail that free mail was abolished on January 1st of 1850.Estimate $300 - 400.

Australia, 1850 Newcastle to Sydney, N.S.W. forwarded to East Maitland, folded letter sheet franked with N.S.W. 1850, 2d indigo, early impression & 2d dull blue, worn impression, both with four large even margins, tied by grid cancels with fancy boxed "6 O'Clock" handstamp denoting the pick up time at the Post Office, reverse with Sydney receiving and forwarding postmarks, Extremely Fine and choice, a wonderful Sydney view cover with one stamp paying the initial postage and other paying the readdress fee.SG No. N.S.W. 21+25 Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.

Australia, 1851 Sydney, N.S.W. to Adelaide, S.A. forwarded to Burra Burra, folded letter sheet endorsed "Overland" and franked with N.S.W. 1850, 2d blue, two singles (different shades and impressions) tied by barred oval handstamps, "Sydney, New South Wales, My 2, 1851" origin and "Melbourne, Port Phillip, My 8, 1851" transit backstamps, underfranked 8d rate with manuscript "8" due, redirected with additional 8d charge and final "1/4" arrival charge, cover opened and resealed in transit near Adelaide with transit note on innerflap…I have opened this to see how my boys were…the man waits to take this back to town, Very Fine, an unusual and rare inter-colonial usage.Estimate $750 - 1,000.
