The post office at Tonto was established on the Howell Ranch at the foot of a trail called Jumpoff. The post office opened February 20, 1884 and closed June 6, 1902, with James B. Watkins as its postmaster.

Total Wreck's post office was established August 12, 1881 and discontinued November 1, 1890. Total Wreck was discovered by John L. Dillon in 1879 and named it such because he thought the ledge the mine was on looked like a total wreck. Empire Ranch by 1880 had no post office.

A RARE EARLY MANUSCRIPT POSTMARK USAGE FROM TUBAC, ARIZONA TERRITORY.
Tubac was an Indian village and was first garrisoned by the Spanish in 1752. The Tubac Post Office was established on February 21, 1859, while in Dona Ana County, New Mexico Territory. It became part of the Arizona Territory on February 24, 1863. Officially it was considered as Fort Tubac between June 1864 to January of 1866 and May 27, 1867 to March 4, 1868. This cover falls between the later of these dates.
