Watsonville, Cal., Jan 5 (Santa Cruz), cds (SCR-2060) on 1873 registered cover to Locarno, Switzerland, matching straight line Registered handstamp, franked with 10¢ Banknote, two singles tied by quartered cork cancels, red New York transit and appropriate backstamps, otherwise Very Fine, the earliest recorded example of this postmark.

Wyatt's Store, Cal., Oct 30th 1860 (Mariposa), neat manuscript postmark (MAR-2180) and matching "Paid 10cts", with "Via Panama" routing endorsement at lower left, to Vermont, interesting three mining letter enclosed datelined from "Merced River"; cover expertly repaired at right, handsome Very Fine appearance, a very rare Mariposa postmark.

(Mariposa), group of 6 covers, includes 1876 manuscript Yosemite (reduced slightly into postmark), 1879 Yosemite Valley cds in red (MAR-2210) with illustrated Leidig's Hotel allover ad on reverse, two similar 1881 cds's in black, one with Barnard's Yosemite Falls Hotel ad on reverse, 1880's blue Yosemite cds (MAR-2230) on Wright & Cooke Yo-Semite Valley Hotel corner cards cover, and a 1893 cds (MAR-2280) on uprated 2¢ entire to Germany; some cover faults, Fine and scarce group.
