1921 "William Penn" Special Airmail, Wash. - Phila. November 14th, postmark tying two different 1¢ Washington stamps on cover to Philadelphia Pa., Welfare Federation boxed receiving handstamp regarding flight, Very Fine, less than 50 covers where carried in each direction. Scott No. 498, 525.

1917, 1¢ green, pre-print fold-over, spectacular six stamp multiple showing a large paper fold running diagonally; few faults, o.g., hinge remnants, Very Fine.

Lot 2071    

1917, 1¢ green, plate cutting perforation error, horizontal block of 22 from two pane rows, vertical guide line shows between two pairs at right; adherence on back of left pair, some perf separations, Very Fine.

ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS PERFORATION ERROR.

The sheet of 400 stamps was fed through the vertical perforator one stamp off. The left vertical column became the margin. The guide line row was perforated and the cutting row moved one stamp right. From left to right, the first 10 pairs of stamps are from the left pane while the eleventh pair is from the right pane. The local precancel plate was arranged for a normal pane of 10 stamps across.

1917, 1¢ green, cracked plate variety, top plate 10656 block of 16 showing the full crack running between left two columns, perforation shift allows error to show perfectly, o.g., never hinged, Very Fine.
Scott No. 498    Estimate $200 - 300.

The plate crack was probably produced from stress during the rolling process.

1917, 1¢ green, block of 12, natural guideline straightedge at bottom, cancelled by "EGGS" cancel, some creasing and minor perf toning, F.-V.F.
Scott No. 498    Estimate $100 - 150.

This cancel originated in Lancaster Pa. where farmers put eggs in carton, addressed it, applied stamps and placed the carton on a Greyhound bus where the cancel was applied.

1917, 1¢ green, imperf horizontally, vertical block of six, bright and fresh, o.g., small thin spot at top right in the upper right stamp, Fine, only one pane of 100 recorded, exceptionally rare large multiple; with 1982 P.F. certificate.
