Sep 19" cds, addressed to Marietta, Ill., original Magnus lettersheet with blue Columbia & Shield design and headed "Camp McClernand, Cairo, Ill, Sept 11th, 1861"; edge faults including tear at bottom, Fine., Fine. Iowa State Seal, "The Boys of 'Our State' ", red patriotic design on cover bearing 1857, 3¢ dull red cancelled by manuscript "July 11" to Mr. Wm. D. Patton at Hillsboro Iowa, original letter datelined "Hillsboro Iowa July the 11/ 62" to Mr. Patton; edge faults, light staining, Fine, This is the only recorded used example of this patriotic design., ex-Bischel.
