Feb. 10" cds on cover addressed to Switzerland, clear bold strike of "New York via England & Ostend. Feb 14" exchange cds and matching "Insufficiently Paid" straightline h.s. for the 10¢ closed mail rate, carried by Inman Line City of New York II, handstamped "Via Ostende" straightline, blue crayon "13" and red "25" ratings, Basel (2.27) transit and Mandach (2.28) arrival backstamp.

1873, 30¢ Gray Black, horizontal pair, used with 1873, 12¢ blackish violet, horizontal pair, both tied by circle of wedges on 1875 Bissell correspondence cover to India, endorsed "via Brindisi", red "Boston Paid Oct 5" exchange cds with red crayon "330/3" triple-weight credit, red London (10.16) transit cds and red crayon "3" colonial credit rating, Sea Post Office (10.29) and Ahmednuggur (11.11) backstamps, edgetear at right, otherwise Very Fine, A scarce use of 12¢ and 30¢ pairs prepaying triple the 28¢ British mail rate via Brindisi, ex-Gibson.

1875, 2¢ Vermilion, horizontal pair, each stamp cancelled by Glen Allen printed star used on large oversized cover from Cussons, May & Sheppard in Glen Allen Va. with "Printed Matter Only." printed endorsement at upper right, flap unsealed, pencil "Bill Heads" content docketing; some edge wear with corner fault, slight perf toning at bottom, Very Fine.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED 2¢ VERMILION GLEN ALLEN VA. PRECANCELLED USAGES.

There is one other example of this oversized Cussons, May & Sheppard mailing to the same addressee Mr. C.M. Russell in Wilmington, Vt. bearing 1¢ blue #156 single and 2¢ vermilion #178 pair. It has a 2010 P.F. certificate.
