1861, 12¢ black, exceptionally well centered with sharp clear impression, tied by "Thomaston Ill Feb 3" duplex on 1868 cover to Liverpool, England at the 12¢ rate, red New York (2.5) exchange cdc, Liverpool (2.15) arrival backstamp, Very Fine, ex-Newbury.

1862, 24¢ red lilac, on red, white & blue patriotic design "Star in Shield - The Union Forever" franked with 1862 24¢ red lilac tied by red Key West Paid cds, to Carlisle, England, with New York transit and "London Paid" cds; stamp & cover with faults, including reinforcement, a very scarce patriotic item franked with 24¢, Fine and rare.

1861, 30¢ orange, two singles, tied by "New Orleans, La., Dec 29" fancy star duplex on 1867 folded lettersheet with printed Prices Current to Havre, France, red "New Paid York/ 48, Jan 9" exchange office cds with Havre octagonal entry datestamp and boxed "PD", readdressed to Ribeauville, three French backstamps, Very Fine.

1861, 30¢ orange, strong color, tied by bold strike of Cross Roads (Skinner 64-X) on blue 1864 folded letter to France, red "New York 'Paid 24' Mar 23" exchange cds, red Calais (4.4) entry cds and large framed "P.D." h.s., Paris (4.4) backstamp, Very Fine and choice strike., fresh and Very Fine use, this strike shows a distinct vertical break in the left side of the cancellation.

1861, 30¢ orange, three singles, right two stamps s.e. at right, all with slight defects, cancelled by grids & center stamp tied by red "Aachen" transit handstamp on orange cover to Germany with "Wabash Ill. May 6" circular datestamp, red N.Y. transit, several transit and receiving backstamps, some minor wear, still Very Fine, triple-rate 30¢ 1861 covers to Germany are extremely rare.

1863, 2¢ black, In combination with 1861, 3¢ rose + 10¢ yellow green on 1864 cover to Picton, Canada, canceled by target handstamps with matching "Esmeralda, N.T. Mar 23" cds, red straight line "Paid" and "15" in octagon handstamps, transit and receiving backstamps; stamps with some defects and cover slightly reduced at left, F.-V.F., a rare Nevada territorial usage from this town paying the 15¢ treaty rate to Canada for over 3000 miles, ex H. Spelman.
