China, Collection, 1878-2010, At the instruction of the consignor, Schuyler Rumsey Auctions is pleased to present the following as a magnificent single lot per the company's usual auction terms, and described as follows:Starting with Imperial & Republic of China, 1878-1949, as listed in 2012 Scott's Catalog, with #1-3 Large Dragons, original gum & lightly hinged, followed by the range of issues including Small Dragons 13-15, etc., lacking in completion for the earlier definitives but including most commemorative sets from the 1920's-1930's; Republic of China is near complete in Scott Specialty album 1989-2010. People's Republic of China is dazzling, virtually complete from 1945, including most originals & reprints identified for each issue, regionals 1L1 - 8L49 (some of these issues lacking but contains good souvenir sheets); thereafter the entire country is virtually complete pristine in hingeless mounts Never Hinged from #1 forward to #3798, lacking only a very few items such as Mei Lan-fang Opera souvenir sheet, "All China is Red", #782 & 798a s.s.'s, but otherwise featuring all the good souvenir sheets, Cultural Revolution issues, including "Thoughts of Mao" NH unfolded bottom strips of 5 with marginal inscriptions & plate numbers, and #992-996 "Statement about Cultural Revolution" unfolded strip of 5 NH, etc. Also included is never hinged collection of Hong Kong in Scott Specialty, from early QEII issues onward until the expiration of the Colony, including souvenir sheets; also noted are some Macao issues and box containing duplicate PRC issues in glassine envelopes. Altogether, total 2012 Scott Catalog value exceeds $125,500 and accompanied by a detailed inventory. Very exciting opportunity seldom encountered.
