Information regarding fraudulent issue is reported in the Boston Revenue Book from a man who was in the match business at the time this wrapper appeared. His letter reads in part…"A man by the name of Comee, a manufacturer of matches in a very small way, located somewhere in Boston Highlands had this paper printed, sometime about 1876 or 1877, and used it to pass for a stamp to deceive the public and the Government to the benefit of his own pocket. The use of it was very short lived and Comee was arrested, tried, and, I think was let off by a (ridiculous) fine of $50.".
