Spectacular hand illustration in color featuring feather quill and name of addressee in bold gothic letters, on what appears to be wrapper, with blue "Marysville, Dec 27 Cal" balloon cds, to Pennsylvania, bold red handstamp "Paid" & manuscript "Paid 12½" with oval "Everts Snell & Co./Express/Feather River" handstamp on reverse, opened out and somewhat tattered, still exceedingly rare, Fine and attractive.Estimate $300 - 400.
