1871, 50¢ Lincoln, black Decalomania Essay. Perf'd, top label of design "Patd. Dec. 5, 1871", frame design similar to the large banknote issue, few small faults as normally seen on most decals, otherwise Fine, rare and unlisted.

This "non-philatelic item" was a patent for "An Improvement in the Mode of Apply tints to Photographs" (Patent No. 121,475).
