Priest's Despatch, 1851 (2¢) bronze on bluish. Ample to clear margins, manuscript canceled on locally address cover; cover with slight manuscript offset from contents and small sealed tear at left, Very Fine, an extremely rare on cover usage of the Priest's Despatch Bronze on Bluish stamp, with three examples known and only two used on cover, this being the only known local usage, ex Chapman.

Lot 1271    

Prince's Letter Dispatch, 1861, black. Large even margins, manuscript canceled on small cover to Albany, N.Y., in combination with 1861, 3¢ rose, both stamps tied by "Boston, Mass., Sep 11" cds and quartered cork duplex, 1865 docketing at left; 3¢ stamp with pre-use tear at lower left and cover missing backflap, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare and desirable example of the Prince's Letter Dispatch adhesive tied on cover, with only eleven on cover example recorded, ex Golden; with 1982 P.F. certificate.

Swart's City Dispatch Post, 1849-53 (1¢) red. Large margins to slightly in at lower left, tied by cork cancel on cover to Macedon, N.J., in combination with 1851, 3¢ dull red, type II, both stamps tied by "New-York, Jan. 16" cds; 3¢ stamp with light corner creases, F.-V.F.

Westtown, 1853-67 (2¢) gold. Type VII, large margins to clear at top, in combination with 1873, 3¢ green on cover to Tecumseh Mich., both stamps tied by target handstamp with matching Street Road, Pa. cds; cover slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, a wonderful and very rare example of the Westtown local stamp tied on cover as this adhesive was normally affixed uncancelled on the reverse of the cover.
