Haven & Greenfield, R.R." cds, blue Richmond, Va. "Way 6" handstamp and four late 1840's Canada cross boarder usages, early 1850's including many usages from Virginia including several #10 usages, Wheeling fancy "Paid 3" handstamps, 1855 foreign mail including London incoming and franked usage from Switzerland to Paris, 1860's including a few Mississippi CSA usages (to O.E. Wade) and a "Adams Ex Co., Louisville, Ky., Aug 9, 1861" cds on 3¢ Star Die entire franked with #26 tied by Louisville, Ky. duplex and additional "Paid 10" handstamp (cut in at top); condition varies, with several bios.Estimate $500 - 750.
Charles Ellet, Jr. First Came To Virginia in 1834 as an engineer on the James River and Kanawha Canal and severed as chief engineer from 1836 To 1839, in charge of Building the Canal from Lynchburg to Tye River. In 1842 he design and built the first suspension bridge in the Americas, over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. In 1853 he became chief engineer for the Virginia Central Railroad.
