Folded letter with "Hamburg, 14 Dec 1857" straight line postmark and red "London, Paid, De 16, 57" transit cds, manuscript "2/8" and "42" rates, with "Feb 27, 1858" receiving docketing on reverse; file fold and separation in top flap, F.-V.F., carried from San Francisco on the schooner Sophia departing Feb. 2nd and arriving Feb. 27th.
