Manuscript postmark (FPHS type III) with matching "10" rate on 1848 folded letter to Mobile Ala., red "Adv 2" advertisment rate handstamp; archival tape reinforced edge wear at bottom, otherwise Very Fine, only two recorded examples of this type postmark outside institutional holdings, extremely unusual with the Mobile "Adv 2" handstamp.Estimate $300 - 400.

Bailey's Mills, Flo./April 25th. Manuscript postmark (type I) with the scarce "6¼" rate on folded letter to Tallahassee, letter datelined from Monticello; central file fold, Very Fine, one of only three recorded territotrial usages from Bailey's Mills.Estimate $300 - 400.
The unusual 6¼ charge was based upon circulating scrip, which was used in Florida during the 1830-40's at some post offices including Tallahassee. (see ASCC pgs XIX and 53).
