(Charles Town June 11, 1756). Dateline on folded letter addressed to Air, North Britain, "pr Capt Bronsden QDC" endorsement, manuscript "1N9" rate and reverse with "17/SE" Bishop receiving mark; minor edge wear, Very Fine.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Captain Benjamin Bronsden, master of the British ship Kent, arrived in Charleston from Bristol, England in June of 1756 and returned for Bristol on July 30, 1756.

Char1estown, So. Carolina/3rd June 1762. Dateline on folded letter addressed to Hull, England, various crossed out manuscript rates and "9" rate at bottom, "pr the Bell, Capt Peters Q.D.C." ship endorsement at lower left, reverse with red "AU/5" Bishop receiving mark; reinforced wear and waterstaining at edges, Fine.

CHARLES/TOWN (S.C.). Two line handstamp on reverse of 1770 (Jun. 3) folded cover to London England endorsed "per the Swallow packt", manuscript "1N" rating, partial London "23/JU" Bishop mark on reverse, Very Fine, ex-Siskin & Mayer.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The packet ship Swallow left Charleston on June 5 and arrived at Falmouth on July 21, rated 1 shilling for transatlantic packet postage.

Straight line postmark on 1787 folded letter to New York, letter datelined "Honduras June 5th, 1787", manuscript "Sh 10.16" dwt/gr rate with double "5/4" shilling/pence rate alongside, routing and ship endorsement at lower left; light toning along file fold slightly affecting postmark, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare Confederation period postmark, this is the listing example in the ASCC.
