Red straight line postmark (BPM 77) and matching "15 AV" Franklin mark on reverse folded letter to Hartford, Conn., manuscript "2.16" rate, enclosure datelined August 10, 1776 recommending the services of a privateer's agent to the State of Connecticut; file fold separations and light even toning on cover front, Fine, a rare usage of the Boston straight line handstamp in the middle of 1776 and unrecorded as such.
