Folded letter datedline "Montevideo January 29 1845", with dark red "MONTEVo" strike, endorsed "by Falmouth Packet" in manuscript, to London, with "LK My 9" receiver on reverse; content in English describes the blockade of Montevideo by Argentina with the French as their Allies; arriving May 9 reveals how long correspondence took overseas during the war between these two neighboring countries; docketing seems to indicate that this was one of two or three copies sent in order to face the gauntlet of the Blockade; rare usage, couple file folds do not detract, Very Fine.Estimate $500 - 750.
