Peru c.1840 Stampless Cover. Most unusual ornate blue cancel, for internal mail within Peru, on neat small cover, with manuscript "164", from Antofagasta to Zocopilla, date unknown, could be an early Ambassador's letter, Very Fine.

Peru 1882-3 Pacific War Covers. 2 covers, both to same addressee in Connecticut, franked with Colon heads of Chile and tied by double circle "Callao" date stamps (13 Dec 82 & 4 Sep 83), during the occupation of this region by Chile; almost certainly posted by naval officer on board the USS Lackawanna which was moored off shore and the site of earlier attempts at hosting peace conference; earlier cover quite reduced at right and with corner erosion, latter cover intact but somewhat roughly opened at top right; very scarce usages, F.-V.F.

Peru 1862 Folded Letter. Internal usage of the 1p rose, margins ample to just in, tied by oval "Lima" and "1" in circle of dots, 24 Feb 1862 double circle date stamp used in Lima and sent to Trujillo; content of letter in Spanish on commercial matters; scarce imperf classic cover in good condition, trivial file fold not affecting stamp or cancels, Very Fine.

Peru 1872 Cover to Chile. Single usage of 1868 4-margin 1d green tied by 24 Sept 1872 Yquique cds on folded letter to Valparaiso, Chile; neat company "P. Ste. Marie" double oval handstamp at left; letter in French from shipping agent reporting on the ships "Gypsy Queen" and "Peking"; minor spot on stamp and trivial file fold not affecting stamp, Very Fine and rare this nice.
