Prindle's Express/To Scott & Klamath Rivers. Three-line printed frank (Haller FP15) on 3¢ pink entire to Yreka Cal., receipt docketing dated "Mch 19, '67", Very Fine.

Nathan states that Charles W. Prindle was successor to Crook's Daily Express and operated his route between Yreka and the Scott and Klamath River Mines from 1860 to 1862, Nathan also reports that Prindle had "several partnerships" and operated alone at various times between 1861 and 1866. The few known Prindle's Express covers have an oval handstamp, this is one of only two known examples of the printed frank.

Blue oval handstamp on cover to Fort Ross, Cal., franked with 1861, 10¢ green canceled by targets with "Bloom, Ill., Feb 18" origin cds alongside, additional manuscript "Bodega, Cal., March 28" transit postmark with "Frd 3" notation; cover restored with sideflaps reattached and top and bottom flaps added, Fine appearance, a rare incoming usage; with 1972 P.F. certificate.
