Erie, Cal., Mar 18, 1889 (San Benito), manuscript postmark (Williams SAB-210) ties 2¢ green Bank Note on cover to Santa Cruz, Cal., original enclosure included which is datelined "El Rancho McKoy", Very Fine, several exist but this is one of the few not damage.

Fir Cap, Cal., Dec 1, 1873 (Sierra), manuscript postmark (Williams SIE-480) and cancel on 3¢ banknote, on cover to Cleveland, O.; cover with small edge tears and slight soiling, Fine, only 5 recorded manuscript postmarks known from this small town.

Folsom City, Cal., Oct 19 (Sacramento), ca. 1858 town postmark (Williams SAC-930) tying 1857, 10¢ green, type III pair on cover, to Greenfield, Mass. and forward to New York City with November 15 town postmark tying two 1857, 3¢ dull red singles, clear red "Cal. C.R.R. / Engr. Depmt." between wavy lines handstamp at upper right; light cover wear and reduction at right with lower corner repaired, Fine, a nice strike of this classic railroad marking.

Folsom, Cal., Jun 7 (Sacramento), cds with matching star cancel tying 3¢ green on illustrated "State Prison at Folsom, California" corner cover showing prison building, to San Francisco, with original 1882 Warden's Office letterhead enclosure with matching illustration; cover soiling and small tears and nicks at top, Fine.

(Nevada), bold cds tying horiz. pair of 1851 3¢ dull red (slightly in at on cover (flap missing) to Scotland with manuscript "Due 23"(¢) to make up the correct 29¢ West Coast rate, handstamped with scarce large size "1(sh)/2½ (d)" due marking, reverse with green "Art. 5/BR Pkt." accountancy handstamp, tiny cover tear at top, Very Fine and scarce, ex-Kramer, cover featured in article by W. Hubbard in Feb '81 Chronicle.

Grass Valley, Cal., Aug 30 (Nevada), full town postmark (Williams NEV-630) with "Paid" straight line and manuscript "15" rate on 1854 cover to Colchester, Nova Scotia, with four Canadain Province transit backstamps, with original 4-page enclosure giving details on the gambling houses; cover with some light staining at bottom, otherwise Very Fine.

April 1853 (Tuolumne), dateline on folded letter with "Sonora, Cal, Apr 11" cds (Williams TUO-1380), franked with left margin pair of 1851, 3¢ dull red, with 3-page letter to sister; "Believe me I have seen some pretty tight times in the passed winter. I have got up in the morning when it rained hard and nothing in my cabin to eat except some black pepper. I went one morning two miles and bought two dollars and a half of bread, ate it all before I got home." and "There are a great many going to Australia from here now.", Very Fine.
