Junction House Colo Dec 13, black cds on 1865 cover to Fort Riley, Kansas franked with target cancelled 1861 3¢ rose, contents discuss buffalo hunting and other matters, cover reduced at right with piece replaced, F.-V.F. and rare, One of only two recorded covers from Junction House, and the only known example with a handstamped postmark.

Kit Carson - Colorado April 24/70, combination printed (as part of corner card) and manuscript postmark on cover to Trinidad, C.T. franked with manuscript cancelled 1869 3¢ ultramarine, some staining affecting cover & adhesive, Very Fine, illustrated in Jarrett's Colorado book.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

The town name formed part of the printed corner card of the Overland Transit Co., and the postmaster simply added the date in manuscript. This company operated as express and forwarding merchants to such places as Trinidad, Pueblo and Santa Fe. A stunning and important usage.

Kit Carson Col. Aug 24, black cds on circa 1872 cover to St. Louis franked with 3¢ Bank Note tied by target cancel, trivial staining, F.-V.F. and scarce, This handstamp was used only during the territorial period, after 1871.
