1857, 10¢ green, type III, rich bright color, tied by bold blue "Cincinnati, O., Apr 29" cds on fresh cover addressed to Lieut Jas. McPherson on Alcatracas Island in San Francisco, Cal. who later became Maj General and Commander of the Army of Tennessee in the Civil War, Very Fine, a very scarce destination.

1857, 12¢ black, plate I, well centered, couple trivial blunt perfs at bottom, beautifully tied by "San Francisco" cds on cover to Wisconsin, flap torn, Extremely Fine, a very scarce single franking, the cover probably originating from Hawaii paying the 10¢ rate + the 2¢ Ship Captain fee.
