1855, 10¢ green, type III, straddle copy with sheet dividing line at right plus, with ample to large margins on 2 sides and touched at bottom, tied by San Francisco, Cal cds on brown cover to Newburyport, Mass, with manuscript notation at lower left per "Str Golden Age" which carried it to Panama then overland to the Atlantic side where another steamship took it to New York, minor edge wear and tiny stain, Very Fine.

1851, 12¢ black, horiz. pair (slightly cut in & right margin added to enhance appearance), tied by San Francisco cds on 1855 cover to Paris, additionally franked with 1851 3¢ dull red (defective) tied by second strike of San Francisco cds, cover with some edge wear, F.-V.F., a rare usage paying the 26¢ West Coast rate (overpaid by 1¢).

1851, 12¢ black, two singles, tied by "Huntington, Ind., Dec 25" cds on 1856 cover to Enniscorthy, Ireland, red "19" credit handstamp and red Liverpool entry cds, reverse with transit and receiving backstamps, with original enclosure; minor cover corner wear at right, Very Fine, a scarce usage to Ireland.

1851, 12¢ black, diagonal bisect, tied by "San Francisco, Cal., Oct 1" cds on 1853 folded letter to Boston, Mass., matching "Due 10" straight line handstamp at center for unpaid letter, Very Fine and choice, an attractive 12¢ bisect usage attempting to pay the 6¢ transcontinental rate; with 1947 P.F. certificate.

1857, 1¢ blue, types II & IIIa, vertical pair (position 4R4-14R4), in combination with 1851, 1¢ blue, type II on cover to West Fairlee, Vt., tied by two strikes of "Dubuque, Iowa, Oct 25, 1858" cds; pair with slight perf wear at cover edge, otherwise Very Fine, an exceptionally rare combination mixed issue franking, ex Cipolla; with 1983 P. Alcuri certificate.
