Lot 1554    

1933, July 23, Flight by Captain and Mrs. Mollison, Pendine, Wales to New York. Typewritten "Per Airplane 'Seafarer'/London-New York/June 1933" and autographed by both, letter addressed to New York, Very Fine and a rare transatlantic flight cover - only four carried, ex-Krinsky. AAMC No. 1185.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

The plane crossed the Atlantic successfully, but ran out of gas and was forced down in a marsh at Stratford, Connecticut; the plane was wrecked and both pilots injured. All covers from this flight have the stamps floated off and some water staining.

1934, April 10 -- Navy Massed Flights San Diego, California to Balboa, Canal Zone. Two cacheted covers with No. 736 to Balboa, different cancels, one from U.S.S. Wright, other from Aircraft Base Force, U.S. Fleet, Very Fine. AAMC No. 1205.
