1863, 2¢ black, vertical bisect, used as part of 3¢ rate. Tied by criss-cross penstrokes on 1868 cover to Salisbury Conn. with matching "Pine Plains N.Y. May 15, 1868" manuscript. postmark, slightly reduced at right, adhesives with few light toned spots, Very Fine and rare; with 1982 and 2004 P.F. certificates.

1862, 5¢ red brown, two singles. Tied by red grid cancel on 1862 folded letter sheet to Amsterdam, Holland, sent British open mail rate via Ostend, blue London transit backstamp and manuscript "2/-" rate, forwarded to Amsterdam and charged "160" due in manuscript, with receiving backstamp in red, Very Fine, a very scarce franking to this uncommon destination; with 1999 P. Holcombe certificate and erased Ashbrook's notes and signature on reverse.
