Town & County postmark, slightly reduced at left, 2nd cover from Baltimore franked with a pair of 3¢ Banknotes addressed to "Tejon Rancho", corner nick, F.-V.F.

(Ranches) Vine Springs Rancho (Tuolumne). Datelined letter to Hon. J.W. Denver (Member of Congress from California) with interesting contents in which the owner complains of his rancho, which had already been explored for gold, being devastated by prospectors "…reducing the land to a state of irreclaimable barrenings the soil all washed off to the depth of from one to ten feet by what they call ground sluicing", he also complains of the farmers' heavy tax burdens while the mining claim owner pays none, included is original envelope postmark Columbia, Cal., Nov 10, 1855 (Tuolumne) cds and "FREE", Very Fine.

(Ranches) Willow Ranch, Cal., Nov 1, 1871 (Siskiyou). Magenta manuscript postmark (Williams SIS-4060) ties 3¢ Banknote on orange cover to Jamestown Grant, Wis., Very Fine, the listed cover but another known, earliest known cover from this town, Rare.
