Lot 107    

(Ranches) Oasis Rancho, San Jose Road. Address on buff cover with uncancelled 1851 3¢ dull red (slightly cut in) with wonderful strike of "R. E. Raimond, General Shipping., and, Commission Merchant, 77 Davis St San Francisco" blue double oval handstamp, Very Fine, Raimond oval is seen on other covers, however it is our belief that this is the only example of an express usage, where Raimond transmitted the cover with the uncancelled 3¢ adhesive as per Post Office regulations, ex-Clifford.

(Ranches) San Louis (Luis in official PO nomenclature) Ranch, Cal., Jan 16 (Merced). No-outer-rim cds receipt cancel on 3¢ Reay entire with "Santa Clara" cds & grid cancel, addressed "Via Gilroy" to San Luis Ranch, slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, 2 covers known for town, Very Rare.

(Ranches) Snellings Ranche, Cala. Double oval postmark (Williams MER-1480) on 1853-55 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Columbia Mo. with black printed frank of Pacific Express (Haller Type 1A) showing Horse & Rider, included is an incredible letter from the sender to someone's wife telling her that her husband has been murdered and the details (fully transcribed), some edge wear, Very Fine, a wonderful Pacific cover.

Distinctive double oval (Williams MER-1480) of this town on large yellow cover franked with well centered 1861 3¢ rose strip of 3 (left stamp torn & others with minor perf flaws) with manuscript cancel to Stockton, Cal., slightly reduced at right, Very Fine and attractive.
