Mexico, Maritime Mail Collection, 1837-79. 30 covers mounted on display pages, focus of usages to the U.S.; many interesting U.S. consulate usages with 1837 folded letter Chihuahua to consulate in Vera Cruz with letters enclosed to the U.S., 1858 cover (with uncanceled 1857, 3¢) and U.S. ship Plymouth letter forwarded by Vera Cruz consulate with red consulate handstamp, 1841 Hermosillo to New Orleans with British Vera Cruz crown circle postmark, 1840-50's usages to New Orleans and many 1850-70's usages from the Lanman Kemp correspondence with various "Steamship" handstamps and rate markings including later deprecated currency, 1860's Matamoros to Connecticut with Cuban "Franco" transit, other usages from Oaxaca, Acapulco, Puebla, Mexico City, etc.; condition mixed but well above the norm. Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
