Highly specialized collection of weather forecast wrappers, envelopes, postcards, etc., contains a large number of report cards from the turn of the century as well as earlier local 1870-80's meteorological reports from San Diego, some foreign including overseas reports and 14 examples of the experimental 1902-03 Mexico flag & weather slogan cancels, the largest known grouping of the Lansing, Mich. circular forecast postmarks (65 items), numerous examples of the rare linear designs including Lincoln, Nebr. (the only known examples in private hands), 2 of the earliest known from Sandusky, O., 1¢ War Dept wrappers from the Signal Service Weather Report, run of late 1940's weather maps in original wrapper's, etc., includes original exhibit pages and collateral items from the award-winning Edith Doane collection, many examples of covers and markings used in 1966 and 1968 Congress books, various Linn's articles and other write-ups, plus photocopies of items in the Smithsonian Archives; a wonderful collection of this rare experimental forecast postal history and a unique opportunity to acquire this seldom seen meteorological material intact, a must see to appreciate.Estimate $15,000 - 20,000.
