Horizontal pair, right stamp with clipped corner, tied by indistinct cds's on registered 1897 oversized "Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores" corner card cover to Zurich Switzerland, violet "Certificacion Oficial para el Extranjero, Mexico, D.F. Correos" two-line handstamp; cover wear, Fine, a scarce usage of the Toluca registry handstamp on inland mail.

Mexico, Officials 1895-98, 1p-10p, "Muestra" overprints. 1p pin perf., full o.g., all fresh and well centered, Very Fine, an extremely rare set with less than 5 examples of each value are known.
Scott No. O21,O39,O48B    Estimate $500 - 750.

These specimens where created for the "Colecccion de Timbres Postales Mexicanos" in 1898 and 1899 and were assumed to be for the official file. Only one used 10p Official on unwatermarked paper was known until the discovery of this 10p specimen in 1993.

In combination with 1900 15c, two singles + 50c red lilac, all tied by cds's on reverse on 1902 cover to Burdeosred allover Official security seal design Burdeos. Franua, purple "Seccion 1a" office seal oval date stamp; 15c values folded over cover at bottom, Fine, still an extremely rare usage of the 1895 Mulita high values.
