1873, 10¢ brown. Cork canceled and tied on 1873 tissue paper cover from Yokohama, Japan to London, England, with "Yokohama, Japan, Oct 22" origin cds, magenta "San Francisco, Cal., Paid, Nov 14" transit and red "London" entry cds's, forwarded within London with G.B. 1864 1d red tied by "Paddington" duplex; cover with some edge faults and single 2¢ with faint corner crease, Very Fine, a spectacular & rare usage; with 2002 P.F. certificate.

Lot 88    

1895, 50¢ orange. In combination with 1898, 6¢ lake + 10¢ brown + 15¢ olive green + 1895, 10¢ Special Delvery, on 1887-94 5¢ Garfield registered entire to Branschweig, Germany, tied by purple cancels and registry etiquette at top, reverse with purple "St. Louis, May, 18, 1900" origin date stamp, N.Y. transit and receiving postmarks, Very Fine, a rare high value mixed franking.

1904, 2¢ Louisiana Purchase. Tied by Pre-First Day of Issue "St, Louis, Mo., Terminal Sta., Apr 29, 1904" machine postmark on cover to Detroit, Michigan, with manuscript notation, "This Stamp was 1 out of 1st Sheet sold out of St. Louis, Mo. Post Office", cover reduced at left, Very Fine, an extremely rare Pre-First Day of Issue usage of the 2¢ Louisiana Purchase issue, with only nine such usages recorded; with 2005 P.F. certificate.

There are only 24 known First Day of Issue usages of the 2¢ Louisiana Purchase. Scott catalog is $5,000 for a First Day Usage.

Parcel Post, 1913, 10¢ carmine rose. In combination with 1910-11, 5¢ blue Washington-Franklin and reverse with additional 1¢ & 2¢ Washington-Franklin singles, all tied by "U.S. Postal Agency, Shanghai, China, R.D." oval handstamps on 1914 registered corner card cover to Neuchatel, Switzerland, purple boxed registry handstamp and reverse with New York transit and receiving date stamps, Extremely Fine, a rare & unusual usage.
