Cape of Good Hope cover collection, 1810-1901. Approximately 150 covers and cards, including early stampless section with many better handstamps, incoming, etc., later stamped covers mostly turn of the century, nice range of usages which include stampless official, registered, foreign destinations, multiple frankings, other South Africa items, etc., worth careful inspection.

Lot 2852 /o   

Cape of Good Hope stock, 1853-1900. Mostly used in small stockbook with a substantial holding of used 1853-64 Hope triangles, including 1853 issues with 1d three singles and a strip of four and 4d seven singles and pair, 1855-58 issues with eight 1d used singles and two apparently mint singles, 4d with 18 used singles and 6d with 3 mint and 9 used in shades as well as a used strip of 6, 10 used 1sh in shades, used 1863-64 issues with 10 1d, 12 4d, 7 6d and 4 1sh singles, nice range of later issues with better high values and a good range of mint to the KEVII issues, additional Hope triangles, Mafeking including 1d Goodyear on piece, proofs and essays, etc., condition mixed as to be expected with condition above the norm and triangles mostly with full margins, well worth careful inspection.
Estimate    $3,000 - 4,000.

Cape of Good Hope triangle study, 1855-58. Accumulation of mostly used, includes #3 (x12), #4 (x53) with 2 unused and block of 4) #5 (x7 used, with pair) #6 (x7 with pair), many with ample margins.

Cape of Good Hope cancellations, 1864-1900's. Comprehensive collection housed on stock pages and display pages in 4 binders, thousands of issues, mostly concentrated on barred numeral cancels with many town postmarks throughout, many rare listed items throughout e.g. 1895 Hermon town on 1d (RRRR) and 1898 Highlands town on 1sh listed (RR) to extremely rare, also a section of multiples, 1912-13 Transvaal used in C.G.H., etc., quality of strikes mixed with some very attractive items throughout, worth inspection especially for the specialist.

Comprehensive collection on display and stockpages, hundreds of mint and used with virtually every issue represented mint and most of the time used, postal cards including QV & KEVII view cards, unsevered reply cards including used, etc., envelopes strong with a nice range of registered sizes, wrappers, etc.

Thousands of stamps arranged in large stockbook, including early embossed issues including many multiples, 1864 Stamp Act issues mint and used including a complete set of proofs (faults), nice range of later issues through to KEVII issues including overprints, section of embossed revenue paper, patent & proprietary including multiples, includes additional on piece items, etc., well worth careful examination.

Cayman Islands collection, 1900-2001. Mint in Scott album, appears to be missing only about a dozen stamps for total completion, complete issues from 1900 to 1905, 1907-09 set complete, later king sets missing only the high values, complete from 1935 on including the 1935-36 set, etc., bright fresh material throughout, well worth inspection.
