1923, 2¢ carmine, perf 10 at top, earliest known usage. Tied by "Albion, Mich., Nov 23, 1923" machine postmark on neat corner card cover to Newberry, Michigan, Very Fine, a great rarity with only three known on cover usages of the this rare combination perf variety, the second earliest being February 6, 1924; with 1969, 1991 and 2000 P.F. certificates.

1923, 1¢ green, rotary, unprecancelled, earliest known usage. Tied by "Wilmington, Calif., May 18, 1923" machine postmark on a H.F. Alexander steamship trifold mailing card, with on-board correspondence and multicolored illustrated breakfast menu inside, Very Fine, a wonderful EKU; with 2002 A.P.S. certificate.

This is the only known usage of an unprecancelled 1923, 1¢ rotary perf. 10 prior to its release by the Philatelic Stamp Agency in October 17, 1923.

Lot 1091    

1935 Postage Meter. 1935 New York meter (US Postage Meter Catalog No. PO-FB6) on a local New York cover, Very Fine, Meter 90060 was the first meter used in a U.S. post office, the earliest known date being December 26, 1934. The meter originally had town line "NEW YORK / N.Y." It was used that way until December 31, 1934 and then pulled from service. It was returned to service shortly after with new town line "MAD. SQ. STA. / NEW YORK, N.Y.". This cover, dated January 2, 1935, is the earliest date known of the second state.; with 2000 A.P.S. certificate.
